Created January 18, 2022

Paul Thornsbury awoke on what happened to be a spring day, the fourth of May, 2032. It was currently 9:12 A.M. It was also the third anniversary of the Public Department of Health (PDH) declaring the evil spirit (particularly, Evil Spirit 99OA, often just called "99OA") pandemic was to be eradicated within three months. Although, three years later, this evil spirit was still alleged to be ravaging the world, and in fact at an all-time high.
Paul, still in bed, immediately reached for his Google Phone, and there were a surprisingly low amount of notifications, all of them from the News app: "BREAKING: PDH Spokesperchild[1] Says, '99OA should be gone within three months.'"; "Man In Washington Saves Kitten From Tree: Here's What Happened"; "BREAKING: President Bukram Assassinates EVIL Terrorist Osama Bin Laden III"; "New Fifth Variant of 99OA: What You Need to Know"; and "PDH Says Full Body[2] Shields 'Not Enough' To Stop New Variant of 99OA."
Paul somehow found his way to a website containing illegal speech (any speech or text which violates the United States Truth Act of 2023, which is also known as the Freedom Act). The website's most recent post said simply that there has never been any evidence that 99OA, or any evil spirits, for that matter, exist.
"What a MORON!" Paul haughtily proclaimed, "I, unlike this CRAZY conspiracy theorist, DO trust the United States Department of Facts and the Truthologist Consensus[3]!"
Paul was late for work. His occupation was as a customer service agent for a small business called Calligraphy PRO. From the perspective of someone living in 2022, this job would appear to not be viable to pay for apartment rent, food, bills, and other requirements for living, but on account of the extremely high minimum wage ($5000 dollars, which is equal to about $33 in 2022 currency, per hour) and the monthly government-provided Wellness Checks, Paul was quite able to pay for it all.
He arrived at work 42 minutes late, at 9:42
[1]: A word in 2032 English. (Using the word "person" has been deemed a "hate crime" (punishable by a $15,000 [which is equal to only about $100 in current currency] fine), because it contains the "white supremacist" word "son." How is it "white supremacist?" The United States Department of Facts declared that the "gender binary" is officially a "white supremacist" term.)
[2]: And face.
[3]: Indeed it is a proper noun.
