It's completely natural and the default state of a human to be an animalistic monster who just does whatever one's desires are at any given moment, with no regards for any morality or higher standard. After all, we're just animals anyway!
But, it's also completely natural for a human to deny and subdue his animalistic desires in favor of a higher standard, to suppress unwise and immoral desires and feelings for the sake of something more important, the bigger picture, morality. After all, we're made in the image of God.
Both of these statements are partially true, because humans -- only humans, in fact -- have both an animalistic side, the "evil inclination," and a Godly, intelligent, moral side, the "good inclination." To be a healthy, wise, righteous, and God-fearing person, they both must be properly balanced.
